What to See at the Baden-Baden Christkindelsmarkt

The market winds along the Lichtentaler Allee, a historic boulevard lit by thousands of Christmas lights.

    Among the must-see attractions are:

    • Wooden barns with artisan’s artwork, sweets, and typical Black Forest specialties
    • Santa’s House for the little ones.
    • Live shows and Christmas choirs
    • The enchanting Ferris wheel with a view of illuminated Baden-Baden.

How to Get to the Christkindelsmarkt

The market is located in the heart of Baden-Baden, directly in front of the Kurhaus, the city’s impressive historic building.

    • By Train: Baden-Baden’s main train station is well-connected to major German cities. From the station, you can take a bus (lines 201, 205, 206) that will take you directly to the city center in just a few minutes.
    • By Car: Baden-Baden is easily accessible via the A5 motorway. If you arrive by car, keep in mind that the historic center is a restricted traffic zone. We recommend parking in one of the many paid public parking garages, such as the one at the Kongresshaus or the Kurhaus. From there, the market is just a short walk away.
    • By Plane: The nearest airports are Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden (FKB) and Stuttgart Airport (STR). From both, you can reach Baden-Baden by public transport or a taxi.

    Tips for Your Visit

    • Clothing: Baden-Baden can be very cold in winter. Wear warm clothes, comfortable shoes, and don’t forget a scarf and hat.
    • Culinary Delights: Don’t miss the chance to try Glühwein (mulled wine), Mandeln (toasted almonds), and for those with a special taste, the delicious Bratwurst (German sausage) or Reibekuchen (potato pancakes).
    • Shopping: The market is the ideal place to find unique and original gifts. Check out the local handcrafted creations, including wooden figurines, Christmas decorations, and of course, my one-of-a-kind wooden tabletop nativity scenes!
    • Atmosphere: In the evening, the lights and sounds of the market create a magical atmosphere. It’s the perfect time for a romantic stroll and for taking unforgettable photos.
